Very busy day today -- busier than expected, in fact. I was awoken early this morning by a phone call from the book store owner: she was feeling sick, and she asked me to work her shift today, which meant going in at 1:00 PM instead of 5:00 PM. No problem, although it did make for a frantic morning. I ended up getting out of bed right away, doing some laundry, washing some dishes, and packing for our trip to Chicago tomorrow. Eventually, I stopped doing things at home and walked in to work.
I started work at 1:00 PM this afternoon and clocked out a little after 9:00 PM because we had an author event this evening. Actually, it was our winter "Top 20 and an Author" event, so I had to give several book reviews along with everything else. The owner made it in to give her book reviews, but she left at about the time the author was scheduled to speak (with lots of apologies), which means I ended up formally introducing the author. I kind of bobbled the introduction, and I bobbled at least one of my reviews, but it was nothing too serious, and the author's presentation went over well. I ran the register afterwards, and at the end of the evening the store manager gave me a ride home.
Back home, I baked some pork chops with a marmalade glaze for dinner, which was served with asparagus and was very tasty and quick. I then helped queenmomcat pack for our trip to Chicago. And now we're headed for a late bedtime, with an early morning ahead of us tomorrow. Oh well. Hopefully, I can sleep on the train.
