Up late morning and walked in to work. It ended up being a very slow day: the annual Ice Festival begins tonight, and they started closing off the street in front of the store sometime in the morning before I showed up. The slowness is just as well, as we received a new receipt printer today that I was tasked with installing. (The old one, -- which had been there since the store opened in 1999 -- died a few days ago.) Turns out, after a call to tech support, that we needed to download some drivers for the new printer. I spent two hours trying to get the drivers to download, being constantly frustrated by our questionable internet connection, before I thought to look in the box the printer came in. Lo and behold, there was a CD-ROM with the drivers on it, and it took me five minutes to get everything set up and running. Yeesh.
The Ice Festival got started in the evening, and that did bring a number of people into the store, but they were mostly browsers, not buyers. In the time I had free between customers, I started reading Emily Arsenault's The Evening Spider, which is anotehr ARC I have to read for work. I ended up with dawdlers at the end of the day and closed about ten minutes late, but so it goes. At least I walked home for a change.
Back home, I found that queenmomcat had been making French onion soup with some leftover lamb for flavor/protein. It was very tasty and very warming, especially since today was kind of a raw day. And now we're looking at an earlyish bedtime, which suits me just fine. I'm feelign tired and I suspect I'm running a sleep deficit. At least I have tomorrow off.
