Up late morning, and after puttering about a while, queenmomcat and I, her stepfather, and her eldest stepbrother's wife (stepsister-in-law?) took off for a road trip to Warm Springs. It took a little while to get there, but the trip was worth it. Warm Springs is where FDR took off to relax and recuperate, and where he eventually died. It was a fascinating site, with a great museum and some interesting exhibits. The actual Little White House was a lot smaller than I had expected, but it had some great touches, such as scratches on the glass panes near the front door where Fala waited to welcome her owner.
The drive back to Atlanta was pretty much uneventful, and after some time unwinding we had a wonderful post-Thanksgiving dinner of turkey soup and turkey pot pie. It was a pleasant end to a pleasant day. After dinner, queenmomcat and I spent some time repacking, but we were still able to socialize a little. Despite the fact that we will have to be up early tomorrow, we're going to bed tonight. And that's a good thing.
