Up early for me this morning, and I actually had some time to play about online before I walked in to work. I worked a 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM closing shift, which is a little longer than the usual mid-week shift. Normally, I would have gone in at noon, but there was a story time this morning at 10:45, so two people had to be on the clock. (I manned the register while the manager read to the kids.) In any case, we had a really busy early afternoon, although it did slow down later in the day. Of course, that means it was busiest while we were trying to deal with the day's shipment, which was quite large: the UPS driver had to make two trips to bring in all the boxes. Still, between us, the manager and I managed to get everything received and shelved before closing.

I actually walked home for a change, although my ankle ended up telling me about halfway home that I should have called for a tide. Oh well. At home, I found waiting for me a letter from bottle rockets accepting two of my haiku for publication. I sent that submission out on the 8th, so that was a nice, quick turnaround. After unwinding a bit, I started some laundry, and then helped queenmomcat pack for her trip up to Chicago tomorrow morning. (Another opera weekend, but I have to work tomorrow evening so I'm not going up until Saturday.) We ended up ordering a pizza for dinner, and now we're looking at going to bed early for a change. queenmomcat has to catch a train early tomorrow morning, and I have another subbing assignment, so off to bed we go.

Poor me: drabbling around Chicago all by myself. Breakfast at Bijan' isn't a bad way to start the day.
