Up mid-morning today, and with a long list of things to do. We're headed off tomorrow morning to Vermont to visit my parents for a week, so I had a lot to get done. I started by balancing the checkbook and paying off some bills that would come due while we were gone. Then I tossed in some laundry and started vacuuming the downstairs. Zazu, as usual, was traumatized by the vacuum, and she ran off up the staircase. However, since Bongo has now taken over the upstairs, she stopped at about 3/4 of the way up the stairs and hunkered down for the duration. Poor little cat. Anyways, I also did some dishes, and then I walked in to work at the book store.
We had a major author event this evening, and it went well, although a number of people who had signed up to come never showed up. We still had enough of a crowd to make it a good event, and the author in question afterwards expressed his satisfaction with the turnout. The author himself was very entertaining and gave a great presentation, and we sold a decent number of his books afterwards. I helped set up the store for the event, ran the register at the end, and helped put the store back in order. The owner gave me a ride home afterwards.
Back home, I prepared waffles and bacon for dinner, and then I paid a few more bills that had arrived during the day. Finally, I got around to packing for our trip, and then I helped queenmomcat do her packing. We're all ready to go now, which is good, as we have a very early start tomorrow. But we'll make it. I may sleep on the airplanes, which I tend to do anyways. But for now, I'll sleep in my own bed for the last time in a week.
