Up early this morning for a trip to the doctor's office, where the verdict was that queenmomcat needed to be admitted to the hospital for intravenous antibiotics. That was at 9:30 AM. We came back home to pack a bag or two for her, and the proceeded to wait several hours for the hospital to call back and confirm she had a room waiting. I spent some of that time online, and I even did some dishes while waiting. Finally, we were able to check in to the hospital at 4:00 PM.
Luckily enough, queenmomcat got a single room right by the nurses' station, which may turn out to be frustrating for the nurses in the long run. There was a flurry of activity checking queenmomcat in, but after that, nothing. I read some of The Z Murders while queenmomcat got herself settled, but by the time I left at 9:30 PM, they still hadn't started her on the antibiotics. (She e-mailed me later that they got things going around 10:00 PM.)
I came home to some slightly fretful cats, not doubt still traumatized by us being out of town last weekend. Otherwise, the house seems very quiet. Hopefully, for all concerned, queenmomcat won't be in the hospital for very long. But for now, I'm headed off to a lonely bed.
