Up mid-morning, and spent the early part of the day puttering about and reading The Incarnations. A little after noon, a motion was made to go blackberry picking, which I was glad to go along with. Unlike everyone else in the party, queenmomcat wore shorts and thus ended up with a lot of scratches on her legs, but she tends to our rose bushes at home, so it's no big deal to her. Anyways, blackberries were gathered, and a crumble was prepared for dinner.
We had lunch "in town" afterwards, and we even spent some time in the local book store, where I found two volumes of poetry I didn't have and wanted. Afterwards, we went back to the family compound and scattered to our afternoon activities. I did some laundry for queenmomcat and me, and then I took a nap, which is par for the course.
Dinner tonight was grilled hamburgers and blackberry crumble, and it was delicious. It was the perfect night for it, too: the weather cooled off from yesterday, the sky was clear, and as usual there was essentially no humidity. I could get used to this.
It looks like we'll be headed off to bed early again tonight, although with the time change it's pretty close to our normal bedtime. The trouble with quick visits like this is that we never quite get time lag behind us. Oh well. We don't have anything we need to be up for or stay up for anyways.
