Today was a day of medical appointments, and they didn't go entirely well. I was first: I got up early this morning and headed of to our family doctor for a routine medication check and to head about my latest lab results. On the plus side, my diabetes seems to be generally under control, but on the minus side my weight was up and my triglycerides are very high (although my overall cholesterol is within acceptable limits). I read some more of In the Dark Places while I was waiting, and I think I may be able to finish it tomorrow.
I came back home, briefly played about online, and then went with queenmomcat to the oncologist. There, we were told that the surgery last week didn't get all of the cancer, and that she'll have to go under the knife again. And even if that second surgery is successful, she's still facing four to six weeks of radiation therapy and five years of various hormone-effecting drugs. Not what she -- or I, for that matter -- wanted to hear.
After that, we went out for a rather grim lunch together, and the came back home for a very quiet afternoon. At least the quiet was interrupted a bit by Bongo actually coming downstairs to socialize, although Zazu wasn't exactly welcoming. I myself went upstairs after a while for a nap, but there's nothing unusual about that.
In the evening, I grilled a steak and steamed some asparagus for dinner. It's nice to be back in grilling season. And now, we're headed off to bed. It's comparatively late, but I don't have to be up early tomorrow. Tomorrow, though, we see the surgeon to get details on queenmomcat's second surgery, so getting some sleep tonight seems imperative.
