Up early for queenmomcat's surgery, which turned out to be logistically complicated. We started the process by driving down to the local outpatient clinic for the radiologist to insert a couple of fine needles in queenmomcat's breast as guides for the surgeon. After that, we drove back up to the hospital where the actual surgery was took place.
The surgery itself went fine, and queenmomcat was feeling good enough this afternoon to do a little light gardening (although she probably shouldn't have). My part in all of this was to provide some moral support and wait around and talk to various medical professionals while queenmomcat was unconscious. I spent my time by reading about two thirds of Peter Robinson's In the Dark Places, which is a mystery I'm reading for work.
After queenmomcat was discharged, we stopped by a restaurant downtown for lunch and -- in queenmomcat's case -- coffee, as she hadn't had anything to eat or drink since last night. Then we came home and I made several phone calls to catch various people up about the progress of the day. After that, queenmomcat went to sit outside and I spent some time online, taking a break to do some dishes.
In the evening, we drove over into the city to our east for some carry-out barbeque, which we enjoyed immensely. Beyond that, it was a very quiet evening, perhaps predictably. Bedtime will probably be pretty late tonight despite the early start to the day, as both queenmomcat and I are a little wired, but I have tomorrow off, so there's no pressing need for sleep.
