Up early for subbing this morning, and off to the junior high to our north where I was an eighth-grade English teacher for the day. The sixth graders up there may have given me one of my worst days of subbing ever a few months ago, but the eighth graders were pretty well behaved. It was a pretty easy day: I Just had to sit through the first half of the same movie five time -- a made-for-TV Holocaust rescue story with some pretty heavy Christian overtones. It was actually pretty dire, but I've learned to deal with that sort of thing over the years. I just concentrate on the students, making sure that they're paying attention and not goofing off or sleeping.
We got another heavy rainstorm as I was driving home, but it had diminished to a minor shower by the time I pulled into our driveway. Back home, I spent some time online, and then went out again to run some errands. After that, I took the traditional nap. In the evening, I roasted a pork loin for dinner, which came out well, although the maple/mustard sauce was a bit thick. I think in future I need to toss in a little stock to thin it out.
Anyways, tonight it looks like we'll be headed off to bed late, although we will have to be up comparatively early tomorrow morning to head off to the doctor's office to find out the results of queenmomcat's breast biopsy. So I suspect neither of us will be sleeping well tonight.
