Up early for subbing today, and it was overall an interesting day. I was a Spanish teacher in the school district to our south -- a different one from last time -- and my day started with one class at the high school. That was pretty easy, although I had to get out of there early in order to head over to the middle school, where I was assigned to help chaperone a field trip. The eighth-graders were headed down to the University of Notre Dame for the day, and I went with them.
One the whole, the field trip was a successful one. The buses got a little lost on the way down, but that was easily straightened out. The students actually behaved very well -- in fact, the tour guides compliment them afterwards as being among the best middle school groups to come through recently. Of course, the trip induced in me the usual combination of nostalgia and nausea, but that's my issue.
We got back to the middle school a little early, so I got to head home a little early. Back home, I spent some time online as usual, started a load of laundry, and then took a long nap. In the evening, I fired up the grill for the first time this year to prepare a steak, which was served with steamed asparagus. All to the good, that. Tomorrow will be a bit stressful and involves getting up early, so I'm off to bed soon.
