I got up much later this morning than I should have, and it kind of set me off kilter for the rest of the day. Between me running late and rain being predicted, I decided it would be best to drive in to work today. I did manage to get to work on time, and I pulled the usual solo Sunday shift. It was an extremely slow day, redeemed by one customer at the end of the day buying a pile of books. Even with that, though, it wasn't a great day. I had time to read more of The Fifth Heart, but that's about all that can be said in favor of the work day.
It started raining mid-afternoon, so I ended up being glad I drove in. Back home, I spent some time on the computer and then took a long nap. Paradoxically, slow days take a lot more out of me than busy ones in general, so I needed the rest. I got up in time to make shepherd's pie for dinner. While it was cooking, I balanced the checkbook, but I started to get a headache, so I didn't follow through by paying the bills.
It looks like we'll be off to a late bedtime again tonight, and while I do have a subbing assignment tomorrow, it's for the later half of the day, so I can sleep in a bit. Tuesday is the same story. Apparently, I'm one of the few subs around here who will routinely accept half-day assignments, but I like being able to not get up at 6:00 AM to work.
