Up early this morning for subbing -- the first assignment in a month that hasn't been cancelled for bad weather or because I was sick. I was in for the French teacher in the junior high to our north, although I did have a couple of classes of high school students. (The junior high and high school buildings are connected, and the students can cross back and forth without too much trouble.) Some of the classes were a little loud, but on the whole the students did their work, so I can't complain too much. I also covered a seventh-grade math class during the French teacher's planning period, so I didn't get any reading done, but so it goes.
Back home, I spent some time online and then took a nap, as is traditional for subbing days. I woke up in time to make shepherd's pie for dinner, and then I spent some time making reservations for the Lyric Opers's next season. At the moment, we are scheduled to see Rossini's La Cenerentola, Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Lehár's Die lustige Witwe, Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier. We may go back later and buy tickets for some of the other featured operas, but for the moment those four will do.
It looks like I'll be getting off to bed late tonight, which is fine. I could use the sleep, but I did have a nice nap this afternoon. It's been a good day overall, and we'll see what tomorrow brings.
