Up early this morning to open the book store. As predicted, my walk in to work was not pleasant. The snow was already pretty deep and the wind was high, and the roads and sidewalks had not been cleared. In any case, I made it in one piece and promptly spent the first fifteen minutes of my shift shoveling the sidewalk in front of the store.
It was an almost completely dead day. I think I had four customers all told, and all of them were downtown for other reasons and decided to stop by. In any case, I spent most of the day alternating between reshoveling the sidewalk ad doing inventory. I managed to get through all of fiction before the owner called late in the day and told me I could close a half hour early.
My walk home was easier than my walk in, mainly because the roads had been sort of plowed. Turns out, there was a lot of ice under the snow, and I slipped and fell a couple of times before I got home. No serious damage, though. I was exhausted by the time I got home, but thankfully, I didn't have to do much the rest of the day. About the most strenuous task I had was preparing dinner, and even that was comparatively easy: boil some pasta, heat some pesto, chop some chicken, mix, and serve. Easy peasy.
Tomorrow, I have a subbing assignment, but I suspect the schools will close for a snow day. I'll find out soon enough. As is, I'm headed off to bed early because it's been a long and tiring day.
