Up mid-morning, as is usual for a book store work day. The cold continues, and there was a high wind this morning blowing snow all over the place, but despite that I walked into work. For a change, though, I did wear a hat and gloves on my walk
The weather was bad enough that we ended up closing an hour early this evening, meaning I worked from noon until 7:00 PM. In fact, we probably could have closed at 6:00 PM without it having any effect on the day's sales figures. Still, there were a considerable number of people around in the afternoon, and we didn't do as badly as the weather would have suggested.
Still, there was plenty of down time, during which I did some inventory work. Specifically, I took care of greeting cards and journals, two categories that hadn't been counted in years. Instead of printing out the inventory count sheets for each category and going through them that way, we went through and set all of the stock counts to zero, and then I physically added the cards and journals we did have on stock. It took a while, but it was worth it. I also started reading a new book: Jennifer McMahon's The Winter People. A supernatural thriller set in Vermont -- I 'm enjoying it quite a bit.
The owner of the store stuck around after she was supposed to clock out to do some work in the back, and after she made the decision to close early, she gave me a ride home. In the evening, queenmomcat and I prepared pesto pasta with leftover chicken for dinner, and since then I've been puttering about online. I'll probably be going to bed late tonight, but that's not a problem, as I don't have to be at work again until noon tomorrow. Maybe it'll be a busier day. I certainly hope so.
