Up late morning, to bitter cold and high winds blowing the snow around all over the place. I had planned to do some shoveling this morning, but there's no way I was going to go out in that, so I hunkered down for some computer time.
As it happens, though, queenmomcat and I did have to go out today. She had her last appointment with the neurosurgeon who operated on her back a little after noon today, so we ventured out in the cold and snow. The drive there wasn't too bad, and the appointment itself went well -- queenmomcat is recovering well -- but the drive home was bad, with white-out conditions and the like. Still, we made it home okay and spent a quiet afternoon watching the snow fall.
Late in the afternoon, I walked downtown for my eye exam. Stopped by City Hall on the way there to pay our water bill and I quickly popped in to the book store to say hello, coming away (of course) with some more ARCs to read soon. My eye exam itself went fine, although my vision has gotten bad enough that I need progressive lenses. I now have a new set of lenses and new frames on order, to be picked up in a week or so.
Despite my eyes being somewhat dilated, I walked home, making it in one piece. After getting home, I took a long nap, which I really needed. In the evening, we roasted a chicken with root vegetables for dinner, and now I'm thinking of going to bed. It's actually pretty late at the moment -- close to the time stamp on this entry -- although I do not have to be up early tomorrow. I briefly had a subbing assignment for the morning, but then the school district in question cancelled. It's going to be that sort of weather tomorrow.
