No resolutions for 2015, as usual. The pressure of resolutions is never quite worth any positive changes in behavior. I'll just try to be better in all things.
I got up nice and late this morning, and had a nice, traditional (for us) New Year's breakfast of bagels and lox. In past years, I would have wolfed down two bagels with all the toppings, but this year I was more moderate. Counting carbs and all. I puttered away the early afternoon online before deciding I should start the new year by reading some poetry. So, I went back upstairs with a copy of Daniel Lusk's Kin, curled up in bed with the cat, and started to read.
I took a break for lunch and then finished my book (1/101), and I feel good about this. Starting the new year with poetry is the right way to go, I think, especially since I'll be spending the rest of the month desperately trying to read ARCs for work. In any case, after finishing my reading, I lay down for a nap, but it didn't take, so I spent some more time online.
queenmomcat and I both felt like going out for dinner tonight, but almost everywhere we usually go was closed. So we ended up going to the pizza place that shares a building with the Amtrak station. This was a test of moderation, which I actually passed (mostly). At least my blood sugar levels after dinner and through the evening were within the acceptable range.
Tomorrow, it's back to work again, and I expect it will be much quieter than it has been lately. Christmas season is over, the kids go back to school next week, and the January doldrums are settling in. At least the weather is still pleasant enough, although that too is scheduled to change in the next few days. Oh well. We've had a pretty mild winter so far.
