Up mid-morning, which is earlier than I had to be awake. Just as well I had some time between waking up and going to work, as I had a miserable headache for most of the morning. Oh well. At least I wasn't a migraine. And at least it didn't keep me from updating my LiveJournal.
I walked in to work, where I pulled a 2:00 to 9:00 PM shift. Today's shipment was small, but there were many special orders, so it took some time to clear. Business was good in the afternoon but really picked up in the evening. Tonight was a festive night around here: it was the official lighting of the holiday lights on the bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, and the downtown merchants had live mannequins in the windows. The theme this year was "television," but we went our own way (television being somewhat antithetical to the mission of a book store). Instead, we had someone dressed in a Llama Llama Red Pajama costume in our window. It went well: a lot of little kids downtown looking at the mannequins exclaimed in delight. And the event drew in a lot of customers, so it was a busy evening. We even had some dawdlers at the end, despite closing an hour later than usual.
The owner of the book store gave me a ride home at the end of the day. I got home to find that queenmomcat had made a stew with leftover lamb from earlier in the week. It was very tasty. And now I'm looking at a late bedtime, despite the fact that I have to open the book store tomorrow morning. Not the best scheduling I've ever experienced, but it could be worse.
