It snowed last night, and what's more, the snow stuck. I thus woke this morning to a dusting of white powder on the ground and a slick of ice on the roads. The latter made my drive up to the high school to our north rather unpleasant, but I managed to make it on time for my subbing assignment. Today, I was a biology teacher, and once more I had a pretty good day. It helped that the regular teacher was in the building all day attending meetings, and she dropped by every once in a while to see how things were going.
My drive home was somewhat better, in that salt trucks had been out and most of the black ice had melted, although at one point I did find myself driving on a very twisty backwoods road as hail fell from the sky. I was glad to make it home, and as I pulled into our driveway, I decided that I wouldn't go out again for the rest of the day. Thankfully, I didn't have to.
I spent a little time catching up online, and then did some dishes. Surprisingly, I didn't feel like taking a nap. Maybe I finally got enough sleep earlier this week, and now I'm all caught up. Probably not, but you never know. We'll see if I can wake up in enough time to get to work tomorrow.
Anyways, we had spaghetti with a meat sauce for dinner, and it was the right day for it. The snow has continued on and off through the day, and while it isn't amounting to much -- it isn't deep enough to shovel yet -- it's still kind of dispiriting. I work at the book store the next two days, and if the weather continues the way it's been going, it won't be very busy. Still, the holiday shopping season is coming up, so I expect we'll be overwhelmed with customers soon enough.
