Up late morning, and spent some time repacking before checking out of the hotel, checking our bags, and heading north on the Red Line. Like the last time we were up here, we had lunch at the Kopi Café and then wandered down to Pastorale by way of Women and Children First book store, where I picked up a new volume of poetry by one of my favorite poets that I didn't know was out. Anyways, we picked up some cheese and sandwiches at Pastoral and then sat at their wine bar for a little while tasting various wines before heading back to the hotel.
After claiming our bags, we took a taxi down to Union Station. Our trip home from that point on was pretty routine, and the train even arrived in our home town almost on time. (A few minutes late, but with Amtrak that's kind of normal.) For a change, we didn't have to scrape any snow or ice off our car, and the drive from the station back to our house was smooth. The cats, as usual, were concerned and clingy, but otherwise okay. I've spent the last hour or so catching up online, and soon we will be off to bed. I have nothing scheduled for the next several days, so I don't care how late I get to sleep tonight. There's always the possibility that I'll be woken up early tomorrow morning by a subbing call, but that hasn't been happening all that often lately. I guess the flu isn't cutting a swathe through the local schools this year the way it has the last few.
