Up mid-morning, and we packed our bags for the trip back home. As usual, we let our bags at the hotel while we went out an played about in the city before catching our train. Today, we took the El down to the Loop and had lunch at Miller's before heading over to spend a few hours at the Art Institute. We went there to check out the big contemporary art donation the museum received recently, and it was an interesting trip.
After improving ourselves with culture for a couple of hours, we left the museum, picked up some sandwiches for the trip home, and took the El back to River North to collect our baggage. We took a taxi to the train station, and then waited around until it was time to board the train and go home.
The train ride itself was uneventful and on time, but when we alighted in our town, we found that it had snowed while we were away. The roads were comparatively clear, but our driveway was clogged enough with blowing and drifting snow that I couldn't get my car to the garage. I did get the car off the street, and we were able to get our suitcases into the house, so we're set for tonight. I'll go out and shovel tomorrow.
Since getting home, we've been consoling the cats and catching up online. We'll head off to bed eventually, although it will probably be pretty late when we do. No matter, as I have the next several days off -- barring last-minute subbing calls -- and I can afford to wake up late.
