Up very late today (after noon) and spent a desultory early afternoon online. I did send out a poetry submission, or at least I think I did: the publication's web interface was kind of confusing and I may have just submitted an empty file. I also worked a little on updating my LiveJournal, which is getting even more behind by the day.
Late in the afternoon, I walked in to work, where I had a 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM shift. It was a very busy evening: the city lit the downtown Christmas tree around 6:00 PM, and after there it was the annual live mannequins in the store windows event. (Some stores go almost overboard on this evening -- we're usually a little more subtle. Tonight, for example, we had the store manager dressed up as a red crayon to advertise our next story time, which will involve the kid's book The Day the Crayons Came Home.) There were a lot of people downtown today, although that didn't really correspond to huge sales numbers. Still the night was a busy one, and we had dawdlers hanging around at closing time.
I got a ride home from the coworker who closed with me. Back home, I found that queenmomcat had started a lamb roast with some vegetables for dinner, and that turned out to be very tasty and just what I needed. This last week has been a busy one (and it's not over -- I work at the book store tomorrow as well), and next week will be a busy one as well. But for now, I'm relaxing at home and getting ready for a late bedtime. Things could be a whole lot worse.
