Up early this morning for subbing, although I didn't have to be there until 10:30 AM. My assignment was once again in the junior high to our north, where I was an eighth-grade science teacher for half a day. It was another pretty easy day: I showed the kids a documentary about sea turtles, and that was about it. The kids weren't really engaged in the movie, but they weren't too loud and obnoxious either. This was probably my last subbing assignment of the year: school ends soon, and I've designated next week as a week off so that I can concentrate on helping queenmomcat to various doctor appointments and with life in general.
I came home to find that niyabinghi and her friend Mark had arrived while I was out and had brought Bongo the cat with them. Bongo, for those who do not recall, is actually Zazu's brother, although they haven't seen each other in something like five years now. niyabinghi is moving and can't take Bongo with her, so he's come to live with us. We're planning on keeping him confined to my library while he gets his bearings, and so that potential fights with Zazu are kept to a minimum. We'll see how that works out.
Anyways, I cooked some hamburgers for our guests as kind of a late lunch, and after they left Zazu finally emerged to see what all the fuss was about. She and Bongo spent some time hissing at each other, although neither of them seemed inclined to jump the child gate between them and start and outright donnybrook. Bongo at the moment seems inclined to hide, and we're not about to drag him out into the open until he gets more comfortable with his new surroundings.
queenmomcat and I had a light, late dinner, mainly consisting of leftovers, and now I'm thinking it's time for bed. We have to be up early tomorrow for an appointment with a surgeon, which means once again we probably won't sleep well tonight.
