Up early to catch the train into Chicago. Amtrak was a few minutes late in arriving at our boarding stop and lost a few more minutes along the way, but we only ended up being about half an hour late into the city. Not bad at all. We were able to check into the hotel early, as usual (there are advantages to coming during the off season), and after stowing our bags in the room we headed over to Frontera for lunch. Also as usual.
We stopped for a few groceries on our way back from lunch, and once those were properly stored, and once some unpacking had occurred, I lay down for a nap. That pretty much took care of the rest of the afternoon.
In the early evening, just about the tail-end of rush hour, we took the El downtown and visited Pastoral for some cheese shopping. Instead of going back to the hotel right afterwards, thought, we took the El some distance north to Andersonville, where we had dinner at Hopleaf. The dinner itself was excellent, although unfortunately the is something of a walk between the El and the restaurant, and queenmomcat's back started having issues. We did make it back to the hotel in one piece, and queenmomcat took a nice hot bath, so hopefully she'll be feeling better tomorrow.
